Diabetes
Diabetes is a condition where there is too much sugar (glucose) in the blood. It occurs when the body stops producing insulin (type 1 diabetes) or when insulin production is insufficient or the insulin doesn't work properly (type 2 diabetes), so glucose builds up in the blood instead of getting into the cells.
When diabetes is well managed, you will feel better and reduce your risk of developing long-term complications of diabetes. The good news is that you can help to manage your diabetes through eating well, physical activity and weight management. By finding out more about the foods you should be eating and learning how different foods affect your blood glucose levels you can gain more control over your diabetes.
If you have diabetes and would like some advice in modifying your diet, I can help you by developing an eating plan to suit your needs and lifestyle.
