Sports Physiotherapy in Canterbury

Sports Physiotherapy

Sports physiotherapists are trained to diagnose and treat sports injuries. Whether you are a recreational, amateur or elite athlete we will advise on appropriate treatment, rehabilitation and apply optimal injury prevention strategies.

Services also include rehabilitation for fractures after the cast is removed, for people preparing for surgery (reduce pain, restore full movement and strength), to enhance recovery or for those after surgery who want to quickly and safely return back to sport and work. Common surgical procedures include anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, Arthroscopic surgery for cartilage/meniscus repair, shoulder rotator cuff repairs, achillies tendon rupture, Brostrom ankle ligament reconstruction and hip and knee replacement.

Andrew Buckley, owner of Team Buckley Canterbury, heads the sports musculoskeletal department and specialises in spine and sports related problems. He applies the most up to date assessment and treatment techniques and performance enhancement strategies which will help identify and treat the root cause of your problem. This will enable you to get back to work and sports performance fitter, faster and stronger. Andy has worked with a number of athletes in different fields including:

  • Gillingham Football Club (championship league)
  • Fulham Football Club (premiership)
  • Canterbury Football Club
  • England Basketball
  • Volleyball England
  • British University Judo Championships
  • Island Games 2009

He has also spent time with premiership rugby league and union teams and observed the treatment of professional footballers at the Lillieshall national sports centre.

I injured my lower back doing a circuit training session and walked into Team Buckley one morning in tremendous pain and with limited movement. I did not have an appointment but Andrew moved his busy schedule to see me straight away. He was precise with his diagnosis and professional and effective with his treatment and within four sessions, over less than two weeks, I recovered perfectly. He is an enthusiastic, committed, knowledgeable and experienced professional who understands both the mechanics of injury and the emotions surrounding the injury process. I would highly recommend him to anyone but he has a particular specialism in dealing with injuries sustained in sporting activities.
