Injury Risk and Performance Enhancement Screening

Injury Risk and Performance Enhancement Screening

Specially designed and adapted for football, rugby, golf, hockey, athletics, cycling, gymnastics, cricket, raquet sports and those who work in hard physical jobs such as carpenters, builders and engineers.

This indentifies key areas of risk, why should anyone else not get a similar service?

Here at Canterbury Team buckley, Andrew Buckley can provide an evidence based approach to an assessment of injury risk. He will provide a performance enhancement programme to help decrease your injury risk, improve your performance and keep you working and participating in your favourite hobbies and sports at your optimal levels.

The Screening Involves an Assessment of:

Posture

Good postural alignment is important as it allows for maximal body efficiency. If one area is out of balance this can cause adaptive changes on the tissues which may result in pain and dysfunction.

Muscle Flexibility

Several studies have shown the relationship between muscle tightness and injury. Variations in stiffness in muscles and joints often causes compensatory changes which leads to increased injury.

Balance & Stability

Balance and stability is important in most sports and occupations. Poor balance has been correlated with injuries ranging from ankle to knee to low back pain.

Muscle Strength and Power

Strength and power output is important from squatting, jumping, throwing and sprinting. Poor strength and power may limit your ability to perform these activities.

Speed agility and quickness (Sports only):

Many sports require explosive speed with sudden changes of direction. Poor aerobic and anaerobic fitness may cause early fatigue which may reduce protection of muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and bones.

Other tests where appropriate may be carried out such as nerve tests, orthopaedic tests, body fat and lung capacity.

The finding identified on this screening will be explained with the appropriate recommendations made such as treatment options, exercise rehabilitation, gym referral and further tests (e.g MRI & ultrasound).

These assessments can be kept on file over the years and compared with each year or season to season to be certain of your progress and further indentify any potential injury risk.
